FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

What can I expect from clinical supervision?

    • A dedicated, experienced clinical supervisor who will help you identify supervision goals, pursue licensure, encourage your autonomy while holding you accountable, help prevent burnout, and promote your professional growth.
    • Our clinical supervisors are reliable and show up on-time for supervision appointments and groups, with no in-session distractions.

How are clinical consultation groups at Firelight Supervision different than peer-led consultation groups?

    • We love peer-led clinical consultation groups. But sometimes, you just want an experienced facilitator to help keep the group on track, have time for your own case review, and to take care of the scheduling. Or you want to see the same people, every month, in your group instead of revolving clinicians. This is what makes Firelight Supervision clinical consultation groups different:
      • Led by an experienced clinical supervisor
      • Same therapists each month in your group, so you can develop deeper connections
      • Focused on relationships and burnout prevention

Can I do supervision/consultation in-person? Can I do it online?

    • While we primarily offer online supervision and consultation, if you are located in Colorado we are happy to do in-person sessions with you in our Denver-based office. All of our supervision and consultation groups are currently online, but upon request from the entire group we can offer in-person groups at our office location in Colorado.

How often do I need to do supervision or consultation?

    • It depends on your situation and state board rules. Usually, if you’re getting licensure supervision, the frequency of your meetings depends on your caseload or work load. If you are doing less than 20 hours per week of work, we suggest you prorate your individual and group supervision hours to match the number of hours you are working. If you’re working full-time and hoping to count most or all of your hours towards licensure, you would need weekly supervision, a combination of group and individual depending on your license type.
    • For clinical consultation for fully-licensed therapists, it’s up to you how often you’d like to do consultation. It can range from weekly to monthly, with either or a combination of individual and group consultation.

How many group supervision hours can I get?

    • If you are an LSW in Colorado, you can count up to 48 of your 96 supervision hours from group supervision. This usually equals out to about 2 groups per month for 2 years.
    • If you’re an LPCC or Unregistered Psychotherapist in Colorado, you can count up to 30 of your 100 supervision hours from group supervision. This equals out to about 1 group supervision per month for 2 years with an additional 6 group sessions.
    • If you are an LPCA in Texas, 2 of your 4 hours of supervision per month can be group supervision (50%).
    • If you are an LMSW in Texas, you can count any number of group supervisions towards your 100 supervision hours.
    • If you are an LMHCA in Washington, you can count groups with 2 members towards your immediate supervision hours, or you can count group supervisions with more than 2 members towards your non-direct client supervised hours.

LEARN MORE

I have my own individual clinical supervisor. Can I still attend a supervision group?

    • Of course! We have many therapists who have outside individual clinical supervisors and want to supplement their supervision with groups. We ask that your group supervisor with Firelight Supervision coordinate with your individual supervisor to make sure everyone is on the same page with supervision hours, your developing skills, and who is signing off on what.

How do I know what supervisor is the best fit for me?

    • Read through our Supervisor Bios! If that’s too overwhelming or you still aren’t sure, schedule a Free 20-minute Phone Consultation with the Supervision Program Coordinator, and we’ll figure it out!

What supervision or consultation groups have openings right now?

    • See our Group Supervision and Group Consultation pages to find current groups that have openings. We strive to keep this information updated, but for the best information Contact Us or schedule a Free 20-minute Phone Consultation with a Supervisor.

HAVE MORE QUESTIONS? WE HAVE ANSWERS!

Is there a commitment I need to agree to?

    • If you attend a group, we ask that you make a commitment to attend for 6 months. Group supervisions and consultations work best when you know the others in your group and when the same people are attending each group.
    • For individual supervision or consultation, there is no commitment, but you will get the best clinical support as you develop an ongoing relationship with your clinical supervisor, which can take time.

Do you work with therapists outside of your speciality areas?

    • We are experts in providing clinical supervision and consultation, but we are not experts in every specialization area. It is possible that you may have more knowledge in a specific area than your clinical supervisor, and we respect that. We can still help you develop professionally through asking pertinent questions, reviewing case conceptualizations, and encouraging you to find some of your own answers.

In-person Office Location:

    • If you are looking for in-person clinical supervision or clinical consultation, we are happy to meet with you at our office location:
      • 750 W. Hampden Ave., Ste. 375, Englewood, CO, 80110

Cancellation/No Show Policy:

    • We reserve the right to charge the full fee amount per supervision or consultation session of any no-show appointments or cancellations within 24 hours of your set appointment or group time.

Payment Options:

    • Credit card
    • Agency Contract (if your agency agrees to pay for your services)
