Title: DOPL Approved Clinical Supervisor
Pronouns: she/her
Who I Work Best With:
I help clinicians in agency, school, or private practice settings develop your clinical identity so you can confidently provide meaningful services to your clients. You might be newly graduated or early in your career but already recognizing that you are an ambitious and thoughtful therapist looking for those same traits in a clinical supervisor.
You want to become excellent at providing therapy and you care about doing things right. Because you are curious about your own professional growth, you welcome feedback and are not satisfied with doing therapy “well enough,” but strive to do the best work you can. Understanding therapeutic modalities matters deeply to you and most of all, you want to understand yourself as a therapist. You are looking for clinical supervision that challenges you while also providing essential support so that you don’t burn out.
If you are seeking clinical supervision in Utah, recent updates at DOPL are putting additional strain on agencies, organizations, and the on-site administrative clinical supervisors. By separating clinical supervision from team and program management, the focus stays on the clinical development of you! External supervision gives you dedicated time to fully develop your clinical skills with an experienced clinical supervisor like myself. Starting a career with this type of support can be invaluable.
I have worked with all ages of clients from children, adolescents and families, to adults and couples. I can support you in an agency, community mental health, or group practice environment, including interdisciplinary teams. I provide individual and group supervision in Utah, and individual and group clinical consultation regardless of location. If you tend to pay attention to details, value strong documentation, prioritize ethical clarity, and strive for clinical integrity, you’re in the right place and we will likely work well together.
Carrie is licensed to provide clinical supervision in Utah. Carrie is an Independent Contractor with Firelight Supervision.
My supervision style is collaborative, structured, and developmental. I view supervision as a professional partnership focused on your clinical growth. In our work together, I will support you as well as challenge you. I will help you refine clinical thinking, case conceptualization, and clinical documentation skills. I believe strong therapists are built through reflection, feedback, and intentional practice. I draw from a developmental supervision model, meaning that your needs will change as your skills grow. Early on we may focus on structure and confidence. Later we may focus on nuance, specialization, and professional identity.
I have supported many therapists as they move toward independent practice. I believe good clinicians understand multiple frameworks and know when each approach is most helpful, so I provide an integrative approach to your clinical work. Because I have worked with therapists from multiple disciplines, I understand the frameworks used by marriage and family therapists, social workers, and clinical mental health counselors. I am also familiar with the differences between their ethical codes and training traditions. My goal is to help thoughtful therapists become confident, ethical, and highly skilled independent clinicians.

Supervision Training and Experience:
I have provided supervision to pre-licensed social workers and counselors in a variety of settings, and I am currently obtaining the Approved Clinical Supervisor credential, which entails 45 hours of supervision-specific training. Over the course of my career I have worked in many settings including child welfare agencies, schools, residential treatment facilities, community mental health agencies and group and private practice settings.
When I am not working I love spending time with my husband and daughter. Listening to live music is what fills my soul with joy so any time I have the chance to see a show I do! I am also a bit of a TV junkie so I’m often caught up in a new show to help me unwind at the end of the day.
