ALICIA KWANDE
Who I Work Best With:
You have some life experience that is driving you to become a top-notch therapist. Or, you may be on your second career, and are looking to find out what area of practice would be the best fit for you. You’re wanting to find your confidence in your clinical skills while still realizing that you have a lot to learn. You have a lot of strengths, and want to highlight them in the clinical work that you do.
Identifying and finding your niche/population of who you work best with is part of your professional development process that I can help you with. I will also work with you to translate your knowledge from your life experience into your clinical practice. Through culturally-competent supervision/consultation, I will support you in your work with diverse populations, drawing from your own experiences.
You might be in private practice, working for an agency, hospital, or non-profit, or in another community setting in which you’re not getting the clinical support you need or want. I’ve worked in all these settings, including emergency departments, nursing homes, community mental health, and even doing community social work in a library setting. If you’re looking to learn more about yourself and how to align your clinical practice with yourself as a person, I would enjoy working with you.
Supervision Style and Specializations:
I will work with you to identify your strengths and skills as a therapist, and provide supervision or consultation based on where you are at in your professional growth. This is the Integrative Developmental Model of Supervision, where I adjust my interventions as a supervisor based on your skill level.
I am competent to provide clinical supervision using these theoretical modalities:
- CBT
- Trauma-informed care
- Person Centered and Strengths-Based Perspectives
- Crisis Intervention/Assessment
- Multicultural Models
My clinical specialities include:
- Anxiety and Depression
- Grief and Loss
- Caregiver Support
- Trauma
- SPMI
- Crisis/Risk Assessment
- Diagnosing
- Comorbid Medical Issues
Supervision Training and Experience:
I have supervised provisionally-licensed and licensed counselors (LPCs) and social workers (LCSWs) in private practice, community mental health, psychiatric hospital assessment teams, and outpatient settings.
